There’s something quietly confronting here, because leaving isn’t always heroic, sometimes it’s just uncomfortable and inconvenient. I’ve noticed the hardest part isn’t stepping out, but accepting who you become after. Growth changes your relationships too, not just your path..
I love your article it deeply resonated with me as we share some commonalities. I am recreating my life now and work with people who are recreating theirs. Well done and keep doing you. I’ve taught writing and you have a gift.
Thank you so much for the compliment! Wishing you all the best in recreating your life and what a gift it is to support of others in recreating theirs!
I love this and can relate to every lesson in one way or another.
It’s been nine years for me … because as I keep going, as things keep unfolding more and more beautifully, it has become this deep devotion to seeing just how good life can get if there are no limits and what started as a way to save myself, has grown into something that feels bigger than me now, exploring new ways of being and moving through the world that are different than everything we have been taught and that create space for all humans to thrive.
For example, I haven’t had a job in four years, but have the most abundance I have ever had, including two beautiful places to call home in my two favourite destinations in the world - giving me a beautiful opportunity to bridge these two contrasting worlds (an off-grid space/community in its early stages in Mexico and Vancouver - the city I have lived in most of my life). I still don’t really quite understand how it is all working out or exactly how it’s going to unfold, but I just keep moving forward, following my intuition and shedding everything that is holding me back.
Ania, I feel such a sense of expansion flow through me as I read your comment. I love how your are playing outside the edges of what we are taught is possible or realistic. There is so much magic available to us when we begin to open ourselves to it. I’m really inspired by you. ❤️
Thank you so much! I’m just so excited to see more and more people exploring life outside the conditioning we’ve been handed.
I feel like I have this amazing opportunity to do this. It kind of started with feeling like I lost ‘everything’, but in reality I gained my freedom and also saw the people who truly valued me for me, and between some of them and now new friends in Vancouver and the wonderful family who have adopted me as a niece/cousin/aunt in Mexico, I am so amazingly supported in ways I didn’t know were available to me, which makes me more and more courageous to keep going.
That’s so beautiful and really well said about how it can start out feeling like we’re losing everything. I really relate to your experience, in that what started out feeling like a loss, opened me up to new possibilities and ways of being in the world I could never have imagined before.
First, thanks for subscribing to my newsletter. I don’t always pay attention to the notification, but in this case I did, and it led me to this post. Second, I totally related to so much you shared here about the peri journey, getting deeper with feeling, and really listening to the inner voice. In my prior life, this was foreign. Today, it’s something I trust.
Isn’t it wild that a path into the void feels so lonely, and yet is something that invites the truest connections. Connections formed by who we are, not the roles we have been playing. My releases also came in waves - the feeling of being steady right before something else was going to be released. Grateful to have found myself with the same freedom - to stop trying to get there and fully be here. Great piece. 💜
Yes! And it’s wild that I thought for so many years, that the roles I was playing and the masks I was wearing, (the exact things I was telling myself, subconsciously, that I needed to be in order to be accepted and loved) were the very things keeping me from the connection I longed for. Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your thoughts, I’m so glad you’ve found freedom!
This is so good. I talk about the In Between as a place to live, not to escape. Because in one way or another, we’re always in some form of it. If we are constantly trying to escape it, what life is there to live? The magic truly is in the In Between.
Oh yes, I can so relate to much of what you share here Jessie.
My healing journey was triggered by an unhealthy business partnership 5 years ago, while simultaneously navigating menopause, and feel as though I am finally moving out of the void into my ‘becoming’.
Thank you for your kind words, Sharon! It’s nice to know you can relate. That’s a lot to go through at once, and I’m glad you’re making your way into your becoming! What’s coming alive for you in this next chapter?
This piece is amazing for everyone in the void and anyone who thinks it will never be them. The void is very real. I’m lucky to be able to go anywhere and do anything yet I don’t know what either of those are yet. To is started my substack for me, to observe and discover and find out. Time is all we have and I’m going to use it to enjoy what time I have and decide what to do with what’s left.
Thank you! I definitely didn't expect to ever be in the void. I wonder if any of us do until one day we find ourselves there? I love that you're showing up for yourself in the void through writing on Substack. It sounds like you're focused on being in the present moment and enjoying your time as much as possible, which is such a gift you're giving yourself ✨
Hello, another reader in the void here. While there are absolutely good things about it, what I'm learning, on the other hand I hate it. I don't like waiting for things to shift as I simultaneously work to make things shift. Like you said, it's uncomfortable. Thank you so much for the great reminders and specific insights into what you've learned along the way, I relate to a lot of them too ❤️
Hi Heather! I hear you! Being in the void is really challenging. You said something really key there, "I don't like waiting for things to shift as I simultaneously work to make things shift", which made me think about how being in the void is a fine balance of surrendering to the process that needs to unfold for us, while also showing up for ourselves in the messiness of it all so we can eventually move through it. Sending you love and strength as you navigate this.

Thanks for bringing up how growth changes your relationships too - it really does and sometimes we’re not prepared for that!

Oh, and by the way, I love the dragonfly logo!

Hi Kristi, thanks so much for letting me know you can relate. I think your adventures look amazing and I’m happy to be following along!
This spoke to me 🗣️🗣️🗣️
I’m so glad to hear!

Being fully ‘me’ and sharing what is true for me through my business offerings - without hesitation or doubt.

Yes sometimes I get tired of balancing 😂 Thank you! Love back to you!
